GALA in Munich 2019
Finally settled back in after an inspiring few days at GALA in Munich. It was so fantastic to see so much of the conference dedicated to Talent and the changing needs of the industry and a welcome rest from AI (for those saying it in their sleep).
We have talked, for many years, about the fact that we have a “talent gap” in this industry. I believe, what we have, is a “skills gap” and that we can start by listening to our employees, understanding what is their main motivation and up-skilling and empowering them to stay and grow with the company. The business is
We spent a few days recording episodes of LT (localization Talent) Talks, with industry leaders like, Florian Faes, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Slator and Massimo Ghislandi, Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing – SDL Trados Software. Watch out for the videos in the next few weeks!
We also recorded more episodes of M&A Talks, with experienced industry professionals with real-life M&A experience in Large global enterprises, like Michael Sank, VP Corporate Development for TransPerfect and Veronique Ozkaya, CSO of LanguageWire, watch out for the videos to follow shortly.
An eye-opening comment from “Michael Sank” during our interview, tells me that M&A is here to stay, as we are still a highly fragmented industry. “TransPerfect is the leader in this space,” says Sank, (revenues according to the latest Nimdzi report of $705 million “still this represents just less than 2% of the global market.”
It was also amazing to be part of the “New World of Work” survey with UCC (University College Cork) and GALA, we are keen to read the results and will be looking for more of you, that could not attend in person, to complete the questionnaire over the coming weeks and have your voice heard about the skills we need for the future.
Some photos from our interviews and the few days in Munich.
